Every day, about twenty children in the Netherlands lose a father or mother, brother or sisters due to a death. This means that annually 7,000 children aged 0-18 experience the death of a loved one in the family. Stichting Achter de Regenboog has supported children and young people in processing this since 1993, so that these events do not hinder building a healthy adult life. For this, it organizes peer contact in the form of children’s and family weekends and days, there is an Information & Advice line where anyone with questions about grieving children can call, and there is a forum where children, young people, and adults can share their stories. Much information can be found on www.achterderegenboog.nl and referrals are made to therapists involved with Achter de Regenboog. Achter de Regenboog is not subsidized and is fully dependent on income from donations, sponsorship, and fundraising. Since mid-2005, Achter de Regenboog operates according to the financial parameters of the CBF and the associated criteria. At the beginning of 2011, AdR obtained the Certificate for Small Doelen. Since 2008, the foundation has been designated by the Tax Authorities as a Public Benefit Organization (ANBI).
