Cuenta Conmigo (“Count on Me”) aims to improve the quality of life of psychotic patients and their families in Nicaragua. Currently, Cuenta Conmigo supports 70 families by making home visits, providing information about psychoses, and organizing workshops and peer meetings. This is urgently needed because the government of Nicaragua spends only 1% of the healthcare budget on psychiatry, of which 99% goes to the only psychiatric hospital in the country. So all care falls on the families.
In 2012, Cuenta Conmigo established a laundry that serves as a workplace and meeting place for patients and family members, aiming to become less dependent on external funding. But for now, your support is still urgently needed. Can we count on you?
